This past weekend, I hung out with some of my coworkers while Manburger was away. I hadn

't planned on traveling to the desert, but two of my coworkers wanted to drive out and see the wild flowers in Borrego Springs. We were gone most of the day, and the drive was half the fun. There are some nice old highways that wind through the mountains to get to Borrego Springs. Here are some of the wildflowers in bloom, quite beautiful for the desert. As we were driving along, we also spotted these statues just out in the middle of the desert. Crazy! We also made a stop at the Borrego Springs visitors center and I pretended to be a turtle. Pretty impressive that I was able to get down there with my being pregnant and all.

It was a nice trip, but I would never want to live in the desert, ever! After growing up in nice green humidity, the idea of people living in the desert seems totally unnatural. Where are the bugs, where are the bodies of water, where are the forests of trees?
