Baby Actress

We have a book of opposites, and Sabrina has taken to acting some of them out. I hope you enjoy her happy and sad faces. By the way, it displays better on YouTube.

New York

Well we decided that it was time for us to head up and see what all the fuss was about in this little place you might have heard of called New York City. I still don't know. I feel like the country mouse from Aesop's Fable. It was a nice place to visit, except that it rained one of the days and the people there are exceptionally unfriendly. We did have delicious food, and it was really fun to see such famous places as Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Times Square. We didn't stick around much in any one place, and we actually didn't tour Ellis Island and Lady Liberty, we just saw them from the free ferry that goes to Staten Island. We stayed at the Desmond Tutu Center, which was really quite nice. It shares grounds with the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church. The last picture is of a multileveled parking structure that Yogurl thought was horribly fascinating. It looks like it is a series of four floor car elevators. Working there must be quite the job. The building on the left of the picture is our hotel, and the tall building behind it is the Empire State Building. It was lit up Orange and Yellow in honor of the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day. I should also mention that we had cupcakes from several places, including Magnolia Bakery, and they weren't that good. Stick to ethnic foods if you visit.

Williamsburg (Again)

For our fifth anniversary, we decided to go to a bed and breakfast near Colonial Williamsburg. Oma was kind enough to come and watch Sabrina for a couple days while we were off enjoying ourselves. The place was nice, and it was wonderful to have time together without a baby again. At the same time, it made me realize that the things I feel frustrated about having to do with a baby--finding somewhere to park the stroller, strapping her in her car seat, stopping a lot for snacks and diaper changes--really aren't that big of a deal. So while we enjoyed our alone time, it also made us enjoy our time with our baby even more. Oh, I also had to include this picture of a plaque from inside the Wren building (the first building of the College of William and Mary). It was one of those things that reminds you that you definitely are in the South. While I think Sic Semper Tyrannis is a cool motto, it seems particularly harsh flown next to a confederate flag.

Too Much Partying

Hopefully this isn't a preview of Sabrina's freshman year of college.
