Wild Animal Park

Manburger suprised me on our 4th anniversary with the day off work and a trip to the Wild Animal Park. It was a beautiful day for our outing and as it was a Thursday, we didn't have to worry about crowds either. Bambina was so good as well. She loves cruising in her stroller and checking out the sights. Manburger had a crazy encounter with a giraffe there; can you believe how close they let you get to the animals? J/K! On Friday, we had our sophisticated anniversary celebration and left Bambina at home with a babysitter and went to Ruth's Chris for dinner. I'm not much of one for red meat, but I have never had a steak as good as the one I had there. Amazing! It seriously melted in my mouth. Manburger's ribeye was phenomenal too. Definitely a restaurant worth the expense.

Locks of a Raspberry Hue

So last night I finally tried the pink temporary hair dye I bought last week. Manburger is convinced I am going through a "quarter life crisis". He's probably right. I just spent more money on a palette of super bright metallic eyeshadows than I ever have on any one item of makeup before. Well, I might as well live it up within my safe boundaries...no tattoos, piercings, head-shavings, age inappropriate clothing, or permanent hair dye. I think my desire to dye my hair pink for the next month and use funky makeup comes from both the fact that I am turning 25 and that I have a small baby and am trying to reassert my vixen side. Oh, the complexities of growing up! When Manburger was experiencing his "quarter life crisis" he was prevented from using hair dye or makeup (haha) because he's a Marine. If he were in the Navy, it might have been a different story :) Anywho, the result of my hair dye is a raspberry hue most noticeable in the front of my hair where it is naturally lighter. I like it!

Valentine's Day

Hope everybody had a good Valentine's Day! I know that we did. I just wanted you to see the Valentine's pizza I made. The picture came out a little fuzzy, but the tomatoes and mushrooms were cut into heart shapes! I think it was pretty good, if I do say so myself. Yogurl's chocolate cream pie turned out phenomenal, but I was too eager to eat that up to waste time with pictures. Oops.

A Day in the Park

Well, I had to head down to the Naval Hospital in San Diego this week (it's the big one where all the specialists are). Since my appointment was scheduled at a point where it would make it pointless for me to try to return to work afterward, Yogurl and Sabrina came with me. The Hospital is in Balboa Park, which is a beautiful area. After the doctor we took a stroll near where Sabrina was born, including a walk through the park where Yogurl was having contractions, hoping to become dilated enough to be admitted to the birthing center. It was an emotional place for me, I can only imagine the memories and feelings Yogurl was experiencing. Then we went and ate at Hash House a Go-Go. We had seen it on one of my favorite shows--Man V. Food. Yogurl's food was good, but mine was awesome. I had the Sage Fried Chicken Benedict. It was a giant biscuit with griddled mashed potatoes, fried chicken, eggs, bacon and grilled cheese covered in chipotle cream sauce. Awesome. Then we went and toured the Balboa park museum area, which was really nice. This is a picture of the Museum of Man. After that came the highlight of the day for Yogurl. We got cupcakes at a place called Cupcakes Squared. They were the best cupcakes ever, without a doubt. They make Sprinkles cupcakes look like those yellow Hostess cupcakes that only Amanda likes. After we got home Sabrina kept trying to get into the basket where we keep her toys, so I helped her climb on in.
