Ski lift and PlayStreet

With it actually being summer and a bit hot down in the valley, we took everyone up to Sundance Resort to cool off.  We all rode the ski lift up the mountain to enjoy the views and the breeze.  Sabrina shared with us that it was the best experience in her whole life.   It was really neat to see the mountains.   I will admit that coming down the slope, I had to remind myself a few times that it wasn't a roller coaster and we weren't suddenly going to speed down the hill.   We look forward to going on the ski lift next summer we are in Utah.   Sundance is a beautiful resort and Provo Canyon is an amazing drive.  Again, those mountains are fantastic!
The day we left was a big day for Uncle Luke, who helped organize an event called PlayStreet, where they close off a few blocks of downtown Provo for family activities and games.  The kids really loved the bounce houses, which were perfectly located in the shade.   My sister and I checked out the farmer's market before the event.  I was astounded how cool it was and how many awesome products they had.  I enjoyed some incredible hand made yogurt!

Rock Canyon and Bean Museum

We took the families for a hike Tuesday morning up Rock Canyon before it got too hot.   Of course, we wisely purchased some baked goods from Provo Bakery and brought some apples for a fun field-trip snack afterwards.  The older kids did great and found lots of exciting things to look at along the trail.   Our little guy had a grumbly morning and crashed later that afternoon with a good nap.   But overall, we all had fun out in nature.  How awesome to be near the mountains!

Later that day, we took the kids to the Bean Life Science Musuem at BYU, which is way cooler and bigger than when we were on campus as students.  The kids loved it.   I really enjoyed seeing the carvings by President Packer, what an amazing talent.

Museum of Natural Curiosities

This past week we went on one last hoorah before I consider  myself too pregnant for plane trips.   We went to see the Petersons in Utah.   Our kids were so happy to spend time with their cousins.  I think our little man was especially excited to have a boy cousin to hang out with and another cousin close to his age.   And our oldest loved having an older girl to hang out with and as a result a bit more freedom than usual.  On Monday, we went up to Thanksgiving Point to the Museum of Natural Curiosities.  We all had so much fun.   The kids could've stayed there all day.    Here are some pictures of the cool things we got to do there.

Kids' Videos

Sabrina really wanted to make a video showing how she could carry Clark on her back. I told her that she would need to do something more than that to make a good video. So she came up with an idea for a movie that would involve her carrying Clark. I told her that I needed her to draw a storyboard so that her ideas could be put in order and everybody else would know what their part was. So she drew one (posted below) and we filmed the video. All while Yogurl was asleep. Then Sabrina told me what to edit and how to transition from scene to scene. There was one major exception - she wanted to make the video look like the scenes from "Take on Me" by Aha. I thought that was too much. Hope you enjoy!
The picture below is the storyboard she drew.
Clark also wanted to make a video. His is like the billy goats Gruff, but with a different ending.

Field Day and End of Kindergarten

Sabrina had been looking forward to field day for a long time. Unfortunately, we got so much rain the week they had planned field day that it had to be postponed. And then postponed again. Finally they got to have it the last week of school. Everyone in Sabrina's class wore little bee hats since they were Baker's Bees.
Sabrina in action in a water relay. Great idea for a June field day in Texas.
Sabrina had a wonderful field day. She got a ribbon for coming in third place in the sack race. Her team also won the tug of war, thanks to Yogurl's coaching and violent threats of punishment for anybody who broke ranks. Clark got to go help out with field day and have fun.

Dressed up brightly for the last day of Kindergarten. An emotional day for Yogurl. Partly because her daughter is growing up, but mostly because she now gets to have two kids home all day while she is pregnant during a Texas summer. Plus the nearby YMCA announced their pool won't be ready until mid-July now. At least our air conditioning works great!
Sabrina and some friends at a last day of school party.
Sabrina with her teacher, Ms. Baker. They got along very well. I can't believe how much Sabrina has learned over the past nine months. I'd like to take credit for all of it, but I think Ms. Baker deserves at least five percent.
Last but not least, Yogurl sporting her 29 weeks pregnant belly. She has been finding it harder to work out intensely at the gym, but otherwise she is doing pretty well. Sabrina was showing us her muscles the other day at dinner and asked to see Yogurl's muscles. She then said "You have pretty big muscules for a pregnant lady!" Maybe next pregnancy pic will be a double biceps pose.
