30 weeks and a family visit

Hi everyone! This week my sister A. and her adorable daughter L. came to visit us in sunny California. The "sunny" part is actually just a joke because the whole time they were here we had a nice gray marine layer. I'm sure A. didn't mind the break from the hot Texas weather though. While they were visiting, we went to the zoo, checked out base, cruised around the Village, walked on the beach, and ate more sweet stuff than I normally do in a month. Woohee! It was so fun to have my niece running around our apartment and see how cute and helpful she is. One morning after we had done laundry, L. helped us put it away. Manburger and I hope our little girl turns out to be just as wonderful. Of course we think all our nieces and nephews are wonderful, but L. is the first one to visit us in our new place. I also really enjoyed the time with my sister and seeing how great of a mom she is. Both my sisters are great moms and I hope I will be as well. I think it's because our own mother always did such a great job! Here's my 30 week pregancy photo too.

29 Weeks

This is Yogurl at 29 weeks. I'm not sure why she looks less pregnant this week than last, but she is doing great!

28 weeks

Here's my latest pregnancy photo. My belly is really starting to pop out. And today during church, I couldn't help but laugh because our little girl had the hiccups and was making my belly dance. It's so neat to feel her moving around inside!

Running Suit

Well, the Marine Corps decided to finally improve on their PT uniform technology. I know it is hard to imagine something more impressive then a green cotton T-shirt and little green shorts that have a crappy built in liner that does nothing but cause discomfort. Somehow, they managed to find something better. Voila! The new Running Suit! It has reflective piping and all sorts of vents and even a mini air-conditioner in each armpit.

Yogurl's First Baby Shower

This past Friday was my first baby shower in our expected baby's honor. A place I used to volunteer hosted a double shower for me and for another employee who is expecting in June. It was fun to catch up with old faces I hadn't seen in a while and to oooh and ahh over all the cute baby stuff. It was a potluck too, so there was plenty of delicious food. One of the coolest food items was a giant two-layer chocolate chip cookie. The person who brought it also brought a half-gallon of ice cream so you could make your own ice cream sandwich right there. Genius! Our baby received some very cute outfits and also a super cool "glow worm" for those late night changings. I didn't even know they still made those things, b/c I remember having one when I was little. I really enjoyed myself and am looking forward to the other baby showers planned in the future.

Our baby is still growing

Here's my latest pregnancy belly photo. This is me at just over 26 weeks. I swear I look more pregnant in person :)

April

Hey, we haven't posted for a while. I'd say we've been really busy, but I'd be lying. We've just been lazy about posting. Let's see, Yogurl's parents came down to visit us for a few days during spring break. We went for a walk on the beach at night trying to find grunion, which we didn't find, and Opa got sucked in by the beach. Yogurl yelled for me and I turned and thought he had tripped or something, but when I got closer I saw that he had been sucked into the sand up to his knee. I tried to help pull him out and in went my left foot up to the knee. Then Yogurl tried to help from the other side and in she went up to her right knee. We all managed to get out, but Yogurl and I both lost a flip-flop so that we now have one pair left that doesn't match.
We bought some baby stuff that Yogurl really wanted, because it was on a great sale at the Navy Exchange in San Diego. I wasn't too impressed with the sailors working at the gates, but the prices inside were great.
For Orthodox Easter, which my family celebrates due in large part to the cheap Easter candy sales, we went home to visit. My whole family was there, so it was great to be together again for a few days. Yogurl got to touch a Joshua tree for the first time. What an Easter treat! She managed to survive the trip despite the fact that my family gets weirder the more of us there are together. A perfect example is my mother's ritual bunny cake decapitation complete with quickening afterward (it's from Highlander).
We saw Wolverine this weekend and it wasn't that great. I'm really sad to say that.
Oh and I had a birthday.
